Quite often, adults have incorrect views about food that they pass on to their children. One of those views is that snacking between meals is bad for you. Often we do that because we ourselves are overweight and we feel guilty about having what we see as 'extra' food, so we don't want our children to do that either. Add to that all the stories in the news lately of childhood obesity being on the increase and you intensify the worry.

Many people have heard of eating yogurt while taking antibiotics, but why? Yogurt contains probiotics which are defined by The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations as "live microorganisms administered in adequate amounts which confer a beneficial health effect on the host". This "good bacteria" found in yogurt, is already in your intestines and colon. These good bacteria can be killed while antibiotics are also killing disease-causing bacteria, if you eat yogurt while on antibiotics it puts the good bacteria back in your guts to properly digest your food and make sure you get all the nutrients and vitamins from your food.

Identifying obesity early on can really save a person's life. If this condition is allowed to go on for too long, you risk placing yourself at risk for things like heart disease and diabetes. Not only this, but if you are obese, you can end up incredibly depressed and isolated because of the social stigma attached to the condition.
