Advice About Child Visitation and Custody

I had lunch last week with a friend who is recently divorced. He and his ex wife have two little girls and they are in the process of working out a custody agreement. As we talked, he shared some of the frustrations and successes with his custody situation. We discussed some of his strategies and approaches and talked about some of the things he should have done differently. After that conversation, I thought about what we talked about and decided that other parents dealing with a custody situation could use the information we talked about. Military Divorce and Legal Separation

My husband is in the U.S. Army and has asked me for a legal separation, what, if any benefits would I still be entitled too if we were separated? Also my husband is being rumored to be sleeping with a married woman to whom he serves as a team leader he's an E-5 she's an E-2, how much trouble could this cause him if this rumor spreads to the wrong people. They both deny it, and I know it to be untrue.

Parental Alienation As A Reason Of Divorce

Parental alienation is just another one of the numerous reasons why the problem of divorce has grown so serious in contemporary society today. In medical terms it is termed as PAS or Parental Alienation Syndrome. This is yet another of the side effects that bitter divorce proceeding usually has on the minds of impressionable children. A man called Richard Gardner in 1985 coined this term. He used the term to describe a process of increasing alienation or distance between a child and his/her parents. In such situations a child displays an increasing amount of hostility and a critical attitude towards the other parent. Now this syndrome can occur for a variety of reasons. One of the main ones is because the other parent usually indoctrinates the child to indulge in such behavior. Now the other parent can either directly or indirectly encourage this attitude of parental alienation.
