There are different cargo types in the transportation industry. The following types are given:

1. Standard cargo- contains industrial equipment, computer equipment, electronic appliances, office machines, clothing, shoes, and others.

2. Non-standard cargo- are cargos that exceeds the dimensional requirements provided by law.

3. Joint cargo- ships small parcels of small customers together with other shipments from other owners. This type of cargo saves a lot of money in case of small shipments.

5. Dangerous cargo- contains usually gasses and chemicals needed by industrial and alike other companies.

There are 9 classifications of a dangerous cargo:

1. First class- contains explosive materials. As explosive materials are very temperamental, this type of cargo should be handled very carefully.

2. Second class- contains pressurized gasses and liquefied gasses obtained by refrigeration as well as solution gasses obtained by under pressure. For this kind of transportation, special equipment tankers are needed.

3. Third class- contains flammable liquids and other mixes. It also includes comprising solid substances found in solution and suspensions.

4. Fourth class- contains flammable materials that may be easily ignited. This type of cargo should be maintained with recommended temperature.

5. Fifth class- contains oxidants and organic peroxides, which if mixed with other substances may lead to auto ignition.

6. Sixth class- requires special clothing to handle noxious and contagious substances, which when in contact with an organism or skin may lead to disease, poison, or death.

7. Seventh class- contains radioactive materials.

8. Eight class- contains caustic and corrosive substances that may lead to skin damage or eye damage. In may also lead to metal corrosion as well as building and cargo damage. If when in contact with organic material, it may lead to fire.

9. Ninth class- contains aforesaid class or not so dangerous materials. But this too must be handled properly and be kept in a correct storage.
